The biggest issue with the winter here, are vehicles not starting, and issues arising due to shit freezing and breaking, including infrastructure, but usually only minor stuff.
Going /out/ here at this time of the year does require a lot of knowledge, and you should always pack enough to get through shtf scenario, as weather can turn really quickly, and the forecast is suddenly completely off.
You will die if you get caught off guard without being prepared, or at least run a pretty high risk, but just use your head and you'll be fine.

Headlamp and alcohol, makes it bearable.
