Just killed a rabbit -- what do I do with the skin

Just hunted down picrel with a slingshot. I already cleaned it out and ate the meat. What do I do with the skin to preserve it? I live in a dormitory so my options rn are limited. Right now it is under my bed stretched out on a board with a fan drying it out. Please let me know.

Burn a fire and save the white ash. One rabbit a few cups of ash. Dig shallow hole wide as stretched dry skin, work ash as a layer over skin. Cover with dirt, soak ground with water, some say piss, leave buried for week or month.
If it's warm it shorter, cold snowy maybe a couple months.
Take out, wash rub with oil or fat, hair comes off.

it got really cold and snowy over night and my friend woke me up in the morning saying trump was elected

This advice is crap. Whilst controlled rotting and soaking with ash lye are both genuine ways to de-hair the skin on their own, trying to combine them like that is counterproductive and at best.sub-optimal, and at worst will just destroy the skin. You should either use a sterile container with lye solvent and stabilize it with citric acid or vinegar afterwards, or leave it float outdoors in a running water, hair to the bottom side.

If you've already stretched it and are trying to dry it, spread a thick layer of salt over it and let it dry completely, then scrape off any fat or meat still clinging to it (gently, as rabbit skin is delicate). You can keep a hide preserved like that for a long time as long as it's not exposed to moisture or bugs. I like to mix tobacco into my drying salt to ward off insects, but that's optional.

It will not be pliable, to be clear, as it is not tanned at that point. It should be slightly flexible but papery. You'll be able to rehydrate it and tan it properly in the future.

Not necessarily, but the salt does help by ensuring that all of the bacteria on the hide is killed. If you're certain that the hide is dry and free of flesh, it should be ok, but keep an eye on it.
