Check the stitching on the buttons/toggles (I can't see what your versions have), and don't put too much tension on the metal eyelets or they'll tear the fabric.
If you're short and/or moving through foliage or snow, you should be able to fold up the bottom corner and button it on the inside when you're wearing it as a cloak.
And keep an eye out for the rare Norwegian ponchos. They're like double-zeltbahns and much nicer than the plash if you're tall. They make a good low bivy or ground tarp, and can also button together into all sorts of zeltbahn-autism-tents when combined with others.
