Aside from gay stuff, abuse coverups, letting in grills, lowering rank requirements, nerfing merit badges, implementing stupid safety rules, and other things, I think some of the worst things the BSA did in recent years was selling various camps and properties in order to pay lawsuits and to make up for the fact they’re facing declining membership. They even fucking mortgaged Philmont and sold their Rockwells to pay for the $850 million in lawsuits.
Despite such issues, the BSA is all but another organization facing rapid decay in the USA, much like Churches, hobby groups, VFW/Legion Posts, societies, and more.
Groups and organizations that used to number members and volunteers in the millions are disappearing from American society due to demographics changes, social media, changes in social behaviors/attitudes, and the increased lack of free time and decrease in wages/earnings/benefits. Let’s not forget about the climate/environment too considering this is /out/.
Why would kids today learn about outsourcing things when they spend their entire lives inside a school, home, card and then job? Entertainment comes from screens as well as education, friendship, lust, as well as every other need.
Why go in the woods to awe at declining wildlife and forest floors covered in invasive east? Why go camping on the weekend when you have no PTO to spare for your wages slave job?
Even if you have time, can you spare the gas money?
Many simply can’t.
Not to get all /pol/ but America’s future generations are going to be largely from certain racial/ethnic/migrant demographics that care little to none for Scouting or similar groups and activities. I’ve personally seen efforts to try and get “inner city” kids into scouts, it doesn’t work.
