What drinks do you take with you when you go /out? What container do you use?

I normally carry 1 litre of water in a plastic bottle and a 8oz flask with single malt whiskey.

I usually bring a 3L bladder but some of it (ideally) is ice so then I bring a 2L platypus bag or one or two 1L smartwater bottles too.
My record is drinking about 8-9L on a full day hike, I drink a lot.
I don't drink alcohol, I used to be really into pills, and pills are so much more fun than alcohol that I can't even enjoy it anymore.

Water. On a big hike I might bring a 2L canteen along side other water bottles or 1L canteens. But over the past years I’ve been trying to move away from plastic so aluminum, steel and titanium canteens are preferred. But I still haven’t filled the gap of a bladder like vessel for my backpack that is plastic-free. I’ve been looking at leather waterskis for that, might end up making my own.

That's a lot of water Anon but normal for a full day's hike I suppose. A few years back I went on a hiking exped in Kenya with some friends. One of them drank over 9 litres of water within 4 hours and collapsed. Turns out he flushed his system out too quickly. Poor fucker took 2 days to recover. Was a good exped though.

Aside from water, of course, I'll sometimes bring a small flask of whiskey, usually Irish, or Bourbon. I have a tendency to drink way too much in my normal day-to-day life, usually in an effort to disassociate, but after spending an entire day hiking 20 miles, talking to no one, and being surrounded by beauty, I feel that I don't really need it the same way. Just a nip or two to help warm up my appreciation of my surroundings, rather than a half liter to completely numb my senses.
