I'm going on a one week survival backpacking trip with my friend and I was wondering if you have and 1 page PDF's about trapping, shelter building, fire making, etc.... anything would be helpful really

also why do you need to trap? is this some kind of trip where you aren't allowed to bring certain things. If you bring some DIY MRE's, tarp, and matches then you're fine..

what type of equipment are you willing to bring? do you have a .22 rifle for some small game, or a bow? are you bringing a water filter? sleeping bag? bottles? cook set? exactly what are the restrictions

We can bring basic gear like cordage, canteens, knives, hatchets, other basic tools sleeping bag, cutlery and air rifles. No food is to be brought

what about a tarp? not having to build a shelter would be nice. If you do need to build a shelter the more practical for time/effort efficiency would be a simple lean-to

I hope you take a few days to practice these skills and not just read a few infographics, say "Man, I got this shit no problem." and go off on what is otherwise destined to be a miserable and possibly dangerous outing.

Yes. Only go one step out of your comfort level. If you're used to sleeping in tents. Try a tarp. If you are used to using lighters. Bring dryer lint and a fire steel. I don't care what anyone says you don't get extra points for being miserable.

Throwing yourself in at the deep end is not a good idea when it comes to this stuff.
You'd be better off practicing the skills you need then trying a weekend first.

To be honest OP, survival is pretty easy if you have an air rifle. Lean to shelters are really easy to construct. Despite what everyone else says, surviving for a week is pretty easy with the correct tools. Good luck OP.

i live in the pacific northwest USA and i don't even bother with it. I'm in a deciduous/coniferous mixed area of the world so pretty much anywhere around here you can find a walnut shell. I just wrap a handkerchief around really tight and hold it like that.
