It's important to point out that I also recommended uninsulated and tall.
Tall means better ankle support and less likely that water will come over the tops, at least from anything less than a full on river.
Uninsulated means nothing but the leather to hold the moisture in. They're cool in the summer and in the winter you just wear quality thermal socks and you're good to go.
This set up as worked very well for me, although the uninsulated tall boot does get harder to find with each passing year.
