This is similar to my technique but I empty the bag into rivers, that way the fish are kept well fed and I don't have a stinky bag.

As for the literal poopy bag I drop that in the river, it cleans it and would be hand for someone downsream to carry water should they be in an emergency situation.

This technique works well and means you aren't wasting space in your pack. Me and a friend did it for 10 days along the AT

Back in high school outdoors club, I had to shit real bad one time. Didn't have enough time to make it to the thunder box. So I ended up shitting ne middle of the tail in the dark. I tried to hide it by putting a rock on top of it.

Later, I noticed I lost my utility knife. I thought I probably dropped it while shitting. I went back and the rock and shit and tp was completely cleaned up.

Yes, a small hole and biodegradeable tp is the way to go while hiking, if you have a camp just make a bigger hole and make some sort of contraption to sit on, lashing a small log between two trees works fine. Place the pit 50-100meters from camp, feces can attract several animals that you may bot wish to have in camp
