>>4356947I'd say just do it, have your camera visible (the bigger the better, they say) and go "Hi, I'm photographing people on the street for my Instagram, would you mind a quick shot?" It would help if you actually had some cool shots to show on your insta already.
I'd say women in groups (small groups, 2 or 3 women) are more likely to agree, it feels less threatening to them. If you want single shots, just find a group, do one or two group shots and then say "Can I get one of just you now?"
