I had a voightlander 17.5mm lens and the panasonic 20mm unironically out resolves it while also having autofocus, body controlled aperture and being a pancake while only being like a stop and a half slower

Thats actual zeiss, all their camera lenses are made by cosina (manual focus) and tamron (autofocus). Basically just make a color preset for each lignt source (sun, tungsten, fluorescent, LED) with a color checker and some reference items after renting a T* coated lens and you can have le zeiss look for all lenses with the coating you made the preset for

It’s simple to do. Capture one automated it (match look tool).

Yes, and they still make them for cinematography.

I think the zm distagon 15mm f2.8 was the last mass market photographer-centric lens they made in germany. MIG = zeiss. MIJ = cosina or tamron (most likely ex-bronica engineers).

This is correct, 15mm f2.8 was the last non-cine made in Germany
ZM, Classic, Milvus, Otus, and Loxia are all Cosina manufactured
Batis and Touit are Tamron designed & Cosina manufactured
Cosina handles distribution and represents Zeiss in tradeshows
