>>4414053>film continues to be made and soldat record lows
>new films are being developedto be sold as small batch boutique products
>manufacturers are building new film camera modelsout of plastic as small batch boutique products (that are built like absolute shit)
>with every passing day the AI slopification of images, smartphone proliferationhave made film even more worthless because any film photo you share without its accompanying original negative and authenticity verification microscope is indistinguishable from AI/edited digital and is functionally equivalent to "its real, i have the raw file, AI can't generate raw files yet". digital is getting c2pa bullshit to verify that it's not AI.
in less than 5 years 8k projectors will be widely available. 8k is all it takes to fully outresolve medium format film and smaller. anyone will be able to print their AI slop to film for a small fee. the government 100% already has the capability to falsify 4x5 and 8x10 beyond anyones ability to tell. they have for literal decades, using high precision stitching techniques borrowed from microchip manufacturing, and large amounts of film photos of historically relevant events are actually digitally manipulated imagery that was printed onto film.
>nothing unique to justify its priceinsofar as film doesn't. film is a subset of digital. everything it can do, digital can do. film has to be developed properly to look like film. digital has to be developed to look like film. same shit.
>doesn't do the things people want (like taking vertical video natively).like film. as opposed to turning a snoy sideways.
only two reasons to shoot film:
1: enjoy a fully analog process and create effects by hand
2: use 4x5 or 8x10 as a more cost effective alternative to renting 150mp MFDBs or for the unique extreme DOF effects
if you are scanning <120 film you are just shooting a lightroom preset with extra steps and extra money
