>>4272780the problem is principally stylistic and subcultural. there are now two major disciplines of photographic style, between the industry, and the influencers. these styles have a lot of artistic components that are too many to list because it's like describing a whole world, but there are some things that better facilitate them than others because the look you just get isn't too far off. it's also a bit of a difference in expense. people are primarily exposed to one and come to prefer it.
for the industry style: phocus, capture one. phase one, hasselblad, fuji GFX, canon, nikon. 120, sheets. large modifiers, very high power strobes, sometimes quite a few. 24, 50, 135. confidence, brash, bold. you could say trash. sometimes you wonder how the fuck people greenlit it. sometimes it's actually amazing.
for the influencer style: adobe, FOSS. sony, fuji X, panasonic. 35mm, half frame. speedlights/2 smaller strobes, small/medium modifiers. 20, 35, 85. it's not confident, it's a stoner that agrees with everyone, it's in and out along with the white guy written "hip hop" track. you'll be bored from frame 1. it aims, above all, to be anything but bad.
