Not giving (You)s to the retard ITT, but I'm genuinely glad he didn't have to deal with mental illness first hand. He wouldn't spout that nonsense if he did.
>>4264625>What happens if you go too deep? You don't get out on your own anymore. After that it just spirals down until you hit rock bottom, or you manage to find help.
>How long did it take for you?I've been struggling with it for fifteen years, give or take. Two major depressive events took three years each to go from rock bottom back to normality, I'd say I've lost five years total because my brain is fucked, but since I've started taking meds five years ago I've been much better overall. Lack of awareness and prompt treatment means that now it's probably something I'll have to deal with forever, not that it doesn't get better, but you can relapse. It's a wrong analogy for a number of reasons, but you can think of meds like insulin for diabetic, but then the emotional part is more intangible than the mere biochemistry of your brain.
Film photography is something I experimented with some years ago and I enjoyed it, pic related, but it was not financially sustainable. I just taken it back up again this month, as I recognized shit was starting to roll downhill: that little knowledge I had was still there and now I can afford it a bit more since I have a job and a life.
