>>4273168You can get everything you need for less than 1k to do it at home if you search on ebay for older equipment, and either cram everything into a medium sized bathroom, or get a darkroom tent for outside. You only really need electricity, but running water is definitely a plus.
If you're lucky there will be a place near you that will offer classes, or darkroom rentals. Renting a darkroom can be quite expensive, and the process is very slow.
You need a "recipe" for each image, and if you're good/lucky you can expect about 3 of these "recipes" per hour. Once you have your recipe you can bust out a bunch of prints fairly quickly, but it can take a lot of time to figure out your recipe.
Color is much much slower than b&w for figuring out your recipes, and the entire development process must be done woth no light.
A properly washed fiber print will last for around 50ish years, and selenium toning it can make a print last for well over 100 years without any fading even in direct sunlight. It's a very beautiful thing to have such a nice looking and long lasting piece of art framed on your wall. :D
