The shutter on my Olympus opens when I wind the film (which primes the shutter). I took the lens apart and found a broken spring (not a coiled kind, more like a springy wire). After some experimenting I concluded that the spring pushes against the shutter control point to keep the shutter closed until a cam pushes in the other direction to open the shutter up. Then once the escapement expires another cam will push the shutter closed. So basically I need some jewellery wire or something to replace the broken spring.
