there's no reason to go full manual unless you really have to (e.g. low light + manual flash). Sure, you start to get the hang of it, but you also do by using aperture priority and keep a look at how the camera exposes at certain light situations and aperture settings + you don't miss your shots.

It is. For anything besides off camera lighting, or lighting situations that a 2 or 3 stop EV comp wheel can't handle, it's a waste of time, and completely unnecessary.

Can it be a personal preference? Sure. But there is no objective benefit.

OP, since you will be at the range a lot, you will want something somewhat tough.

I suggest you look at the Olympus OM-D E-M5 with the 14-42mm lens. It is currently on sale right now for an amazing $499. The body is weather sealed against rain and dust. However, the lens in this kit is not. You could always upgrade to one of their cheaper weather sealed lenses later if you desired. The E-M5 is made of magnesium alloy, not shit plastic like a Rebel or Dxxxx series. It also will focus faster, and is smaller. The amazing sensor based image stabilization will enable you to take longer exposures hand held, for example if you are trying to catch a fireball from a gun being shot at dusk. Also enables you to hand hold it indoors with no flash, resulting in nicer lit pictures.

This shit is LEGIT and incredibly cheap right now.

I feel that the 135mmL doesn't have enough reach for me and the 50mmL gives me excellent results although it took a while for me to get used to it. The 135mmL actually works better on APS-C whereas the 50mmL is certainly at home on a FF. I really like the 50mmL as a walkabout lens. Does anyone think the 85mm would make a suitable walkabout lens or is the focal length too much?

People who shoot with the 85mm f/1.8 have a lot of respect for that lens although I see that people who have also used both the 85mm f/1.2L and the f/1.8 claim that the 85L is a very different lens. I do enjoy photography and I really appreciate the bokeh from the 50mm lenses. I thought I'd be happy with the 50 & 135 but the 85mmL results look incredibly appealing. Is it just a case of "the Grass is Greener"? I don't think so because the results I've seen from the 85 just seem to stand out to me for some reason. I can't really explain it.

White Balance has always been something I have no idea about. I should probably get to work on that. I chose 1/4000s because it's really windy here today and wanted the crops to appear still. I honestly don't know, I don't think that the second one was actually taken at 1/4000s, pretty sure I was messing around and was using a slower shutter speed. Yeah I like the DoF idea. Thank you.

You fucking idiot. At f/1.2, from portrait distances (15 feet) your plane of focus will be more than 6 inches front to back. That's absolutely penty for portraiture. Want more depth of field? Stop down! Not enough light? Raise your ISO! Oh man.

Just the White slider in Lightroom, lowered a bit contrast and shit. Also, a bit more of exposure. Look at the histogram to know if the white is off.

You realize when you go to the range, you aren't shooting at each OTHER right? You stand there, behind a little shelf/table, and shoot way over there. There is no need for durability.

the white balance thing depends on the light and also a little on the mood you want to create, but the green looks strange and the yellow is usually not that dark at those plants.

Ranges are pretty dusty and smoky depending on the range. Hot shells also fly around, and do hit people sometimes. I wouldn't take a plastic camera without sealing to one.
