Most studios I have been in used some sort or rolling mount thing. None have had tripods.

It certainly would, but you could argue it would be negligible up to a certain point. If we're talking isolated subjects or 'landscapes within landscapes' achieved by cropping significantly, perspective would definitely be altered and you'd sacrifice detail which is supposedly even more important in landscape photography.

As long as people are aware of the effects and it matches their vision, fine by me I guess. Just don't get militant about something just for the sake of having le revolutionary snowflake opinion. Most gear has its use, but if you're happy being restricted to a specific type of look/are on a budget, go with it. Just don't proclaim general rules on 'which focal length' is better because that's retarded shit.

Wasn't too surgical with that phrase. What I meant by it was simply anything other than large vistas that you'd normally take with a wide angle lens. Possibly telephoto, or 'normal' focal length where you'd separate an element from a large vista (shoot the tree, not the forest). Cropping from a larger vista would work, but it would undeniably render a different image with a different perspective.

What if I don't like having noise when I don't need it, because it reduces dynamic range and color depth the further I raise my light sensitivity? What if I want the effect of long exposure, like motion blur or light trails?

This is really a dumb debate that even smart people tend to have sometimes.

Take a pic with a 50mm and one with a 24mm on the same crop factor. Crop the image of the 24mm until it’s the same coverage as the 50mm. Don’t move or let your subject move between shots. The perspective will be the same between the cropped and 50mm versions.

If you have the subject framed at the same size and move closer on wide angles to do this, then yes, the perspective will be stronger.
