Take stand for instance.
Most people will get bromide drag. Not to mention that stand is a contrast-compressing development, which won't work great in a scene that is flat to begin with.
And in normal development you don't need to monitor agitation and time that closely.
If you skip agitation once or twice (say at 2:00 mark and 5:00 mark), you won't even notice the difference.
Time is important, true, but again no difference if you're 30seconds off in a 10minute dev time.
About powders, they might look intimidating, but if you can make a cup of coffee with sugar, you can mix a powder dev.
Everything is premeasured, so you slightly heat up some water, pour one sachet in, stir, pour the other sachet, stir, and you're done, you got 5L of developer for like 13€.
