>>4225154i have a client that contracts me to make web images on a near daily basis (m-s) for their news site. it's not super high pay, $3k/month, but i really only spend about an hour a day on the work. about 300 images a month. when i switched my video production workflow to linux, i tried to also switch the graphics work and go with gimp for a month for the hell of it. the biggest downsides i found with gimp were
>no vector support>really jenky text editing>had to go back to manually masking subjects>i was spending a lot more time on my work.sometimes i really enjoyed how the alternate workflow made me approach compositions differently. most of the time though, i was just annoyed by this. doing things professionally really just means removing your personal interest in it. if i was doing something passionately, i wouldn't mind going at it with gimp. but since i'm just trying to pay my mortgage, keep food on the table, etc, i was extremely unhappy. then the latest update came and reverted all of my hotkeys, so i just vnc into windows when i need to use photoshop.
