As for pics composition is key, having a camera with a decent zoom lens lets you have a lot more options with composition but if you only have a phone you're stuck with what you get.
Shoot in pro mode if your phone has it, don't use digital zoom ever and save the files as raw if you have the option so you have a much better image and you can edit it later even if it looks like shit when you take it.
