Filter thread size adapter - worth buying or not

Anons, I don't want to buy a dozen of the same filters just varying by thread size, so I guess I can get bigger ones instead and this adapter.

Does it make sense or can I expect my image quality to go to shit because filter will capture and scatter unwanted light into lenses or something?

don't see any it would be any more of a problem using this than using a filter the same size as your lens' threads. if a filter is gonna hurt your image qualify, that's a problem of the filter itself

No, this is the correct move if you don't want to buy a bunch of filters in varying sizes. But given that my max filter size is now 82mm, and my smallest lens takes a 39mm filter thread... I'm fine buying correctly sized filters. I think even going 52-77 is fucking silly. Small filters are cheap enough that I'll just shrug and do it.

Worth it for larger filters if you plan on building up a large lens collection and want to buy 1 type of filter that you can use on all of your lenses.

If you only have 2 lenses then just get the matching filters that work with the filter size of the 2 lenses. If you have 8 lenses like myself then get the larger filter. If you are cheap like myself go for the 77mm. If you have money then get the 82mm, much better.

If you get 77mm filters, they will cover roughly 85% of all photo lenses ever made.

If you get 82mm filters, they will cover roughly 99% of all photo lenses ever made.

If you get a 95mm filter it will cover approximately 99.9% of all photo lenses ever made but unfortunately will cost a bloody fortune and is a custom order.

I use 82mm filters: they go from my Niggor 105 mm f/1.4 to everything else thanks to those lil rings

It'll increase distance from the filter to the lens. In theory slightly softer image. In certain situations also some extra glare when shooting into light sources in case of substantially lager filter on smaller lenses. Nothing major, but worth knowing.
