>>4232646P is for poser. It's for dadcore GWACs who say "hold still for the camera". Because really, that's all it's ever been good for, is the kind of family portrait "smile!" shit that GWACS do. The "i bought a canon DSLR and fropak 3, I'm going to charge people for weddings now" kind of guy. In real life, there are only two or three modes that have any worth.
MANUAL - This is used for anything with speedlights/strobes.
APERTURE PRIORITY W/ AUTO ISO+MIN TARGET SHUTTER SPEED: This is basically shutter priority for the digital age and is preferred by anyone shooting fast moving situations. Set the highest ISO you will accept and the minimum shutter speed that will freeze motion. Watch your settings in the VF and adjust aperture for the DOF you are willing to work with.
SHUTTER PRIORITY - You use this if your camera can't do the above and just keep an eyeball on the aperture setting and adjust the ISO manually.
Everything else except the user modes which are basically preset auto ISO, shutter, WB, etc settings for different archetypical shoots is pretty worthless mode dial clutter. They should be configurable as additional user mods because if I have Av+ISOASS I don't need Tv, TAv is useless if there is an ISO AUTO setting on the ISO button/wheel, P is useless if you have Tv or Av+ISOASS, etc. AUTO does not belong on a camera that costs more than $1000. If you need AUTO, you do not need a camera that costs more than $1000, you fucking consoomer.
This is basically all you need to know to use a camera besides "move the exposure compensation dial to +1-2, not -1-2, most of the time, to expose 100% for your subject instead of some shit in the bokeh/sky nobody cares about".
t. actually shoots.
