Your next best bet is literally a canon 6dii with the OVF removed for no good reason

Personally, I wouldn't go back to APS-C, so I'd be being a DSLR if I only had $800 bucks for a body and lens

It’s a camera that labels its ISOs one stop higher so you need wider apertures or slower shutter speeds than you should for the label in order to pretend it is not exactly one stop noisier than apsc - for marketing purposes.

The image quality is very close to cameras like the powershot g7xiii but it costs and weighs more so you can take more pictures of birds without actually being good at it

Thanks! Much appreciated. I like the shot of that plasma cutter or whatever it is (DSC_8988). People talk about the sensor as having a special quality to it, but I probably couldn't pick it out from any other nikon FF camera in terms of character. I do like the colors in that mushroom photo though with the muted greens/yellows/browns and more vibrant reds.

Personally I think this camera really shines with greens, reds are a little oversaturated and blues could be a little more saturated. But yeah its pretty similiar to other nikons as you're saying, the Z7 for example basically looks like the D700 but with 3 times the resolution and more DR.

What sold it for me was the fact it was a 3-400 dollar FF camera that meters with old manual lenses.

This is exactly the reason I'm looking at one. I have a bunch of f-mount glass I've been adapting to various mirrorless systems, but I've never actually owned an f-mount camera and it seems like a reasonable price point to try it out.

Taken with the – I believe – 80-200 f/2.8 AF-D, not the push-pull version. One of the best bang for your buck lenses around. Love the look of it wide open.

compare it to a real CCD like the d200, and you'll see that it looks more like it's fellow CMOS sensors than a CCD.

I really wish a company would introduce some new interesting sensor tech, besides sigma (allegedly). I've very tired of the cmos look

Idk, when I think of CCD I think of warm colours kinda like Kodak film.
the D700 is a bit too cool and vibrant for that vision.

Because an OVF and a certain style is important to some people.
It's a fancy point and shoot, just like the Fuji Natura S snd the Contax T2 were.

I've been quite interested in getting one myself, but for that price point I feel a Leica M8 would be more worth it.
