WTF Ilford has released a colorfilm???

Has anyone tried this? its a remake of a retro color film they did back in the day.

I am going to buy some on the weekend no matter what people say but has anyone tried it? any good?

Some more interesting details about it:
As you can see from the box (company name, website, ..), this is not made nor sold by the Ilford film manufacturer we know and love, but rather by the german company Ilford Imaging. Apparently there are multiple Ilford companies.

It says Packaged in China, which is weird.

It references the process AP70, which is a C-41 compatible development process from Agfa which has not been in use for many, many years.

The color of the emulsion looks to be yellow-green, which is not consistent with any current ISO 400 color film I know of, except the new Orwo Wolfen NC500.

The develop before-date suggest it was manufactured in April this year.

It seems to be exclusive to Australia and New Zealand.

Yes, about 7 years ago, not the new stuff if thats new, shot it at 100, was grainy and not good quality. Still underexposed a bit (expired, usually don't find it a problem with most films though). Just shot it out of curiosity and stacked a whole bunch of scans from it to see what would happen. Ended up giving away or selling the rest of the rolls, just wasn't interesting

It probably isn't. The Fujifilm 400 and stuff is probably just Ultramax. If not it's something similar but made by Kodak. IIRC those boxes will say made in the USA instead of Japan. This Ilfocolor stuff says made in England and packaged in China.

As far as I know, there are only really 3 color film coating plants in the world, or, at least, 3 entities capable of manufacturing color film even if they might have multiple plants. That's Kodak in the US, Fuji in Japan, and Inoviscoat in Europe. Inoviscoat is now under common ownership with ORWO and they're running off their own color films now, which is nice to see. I am confused as to why the Ilfocolor package would say made in England since I was under the impression that Inoviscoat operates somewhere in continental Europe, but just because it says made in England doesn't mean the actual film was necessarily coated there.

I doubt that Ilford has now spun up their own color film line otherwise they probably would have made a much bigger show of it. They probably are contracting out to Inoviscoat just like Lomography does, then putting the film into canisters in their plant in England, and I guess some sort of extra packaging must be done in china because the box says it's "packaged in China".

Also bizarre its only in NZ and Aus, not sure why but I am happy to be the test area for whole new types of film.

Yeah not suprised, i was half considering buying a stack and putting it on ebay and seeing what it would sell for internationally. Surely others have had that idea and clearly have if its popping up in shops in other countries too.

Probably some obscure tax loophole. Australia loves to give tax breaks and subsidies to their Chinese overlords

back in my mini-lab days, this shit was often in repacked disposable cameras. No idea what it is but our Frontier never liked it and the colour was always shit.

companies would buy disposable cameras from labs and repackage them, they were often held together with electrical tape and stuffed in a cardboard outer package to hide that it was a half busted Kodak disposable at one time.
