Correct, this is caused by the degeneration of people's ability to understand myth. People generally can't understand the concept of a transcendental anymore. Everything must be made material and rationalized and in that process people get extremely confused. Hence people confusing the symbols of male and females with actual male and females and the belief that you can literally change it. The world is dying.

I never seen photography as an art form, you wouldn't call tracing art. It is a light measure from an angle. The setup for photography is pure art though, which is why snapshitters aren't are and deliberate photos that are formed are. Dali's surrealist photos are heavily setup and had many takes to get his minds eye image.

I'm the guy who asked if you're brazilian. Might I ask from whom did you learn about symbolism? I don't know good american authors or any contemporary authors that teach about these concepts. The only recent author I know that teaches about symbolism in a very deep level is Mario Ferreira dos Santos, a brazilian philosopher. There's also a brazilian photographer (https://www.instagram.com/joaommenna/) that gives out really valuable interpretations about visual arts using archetypes and symbols as tools to comprehend their meaning.
