Fucking why? Why can't I get an actual modern USB-C port on a fucking $500+ camera instead of this bullshit where it's basically just a USB-A port in disguise that does almost literally nothing?
I just bought a fucking set of cheap ass USB-C rechargeable AA batteries direct from LongHuang China Battery Factory Shanghai, and even they had digitally regulated C to C charging.
Why don't camera companies just charge us the extra 20$ for the USB-C chip? Is there something I'm missing? Do photographers not give a shit?

Leica, for how much of a scam their crippled snoys and rebadged panasonics are, does this right. Every single camera can just plug in to a smartphone. Every single camera can charge via USB.

The problem is the japanese are designing the majority of the cameras and these people are cultural luddites who punish innovation and breaking from prior norms with spirit breaking and suicide inducing levels of shame. They are still using windows 7 and pic related and it took them 10 extra years to ditch flip phones.

I dont know how much apple patent jewing has to do with it but nikon can't even get snapbridge to fucking WORK AT ALL let alone just... plug the fucking camera into a phone and use it as a CF card reader! To my knowledge this only works on android and ONLY with their high end cameras. Unfortunately android is also a literal social life killer if you are an american under 30, as in, women do not want to buy new phones because google and apple are still having a childish war over replacing MMS with whatever and if you dont have imessage, 2 way facetime, airdrop, etc you're buying an iphone 2 months into the relationship or they're finding a guy they can talk to.

The partial workaround as of today is to find a SD+CF card reader that supports your iphone. But if you want USB charging on something that isn't TOTL you are fucked. Blame japan and their fundamentally dysfunctional culture. They are so culturally backwards that bestiality is still legal there, but gay marriage is not, and laws against CP and pedophilia are for appearances only (otherwise they would still be marrying off 12 year olds like it's the 1400s)

Why did you fail to read or comprehend anything in the OP? They already included USB-C. They already showed they were willing to pay the extra $.02 for the port. But they didn't want to pay the extra ~$0.50 for the regulation chip to integrate it with the rest of the camera and allow smartphone connection or full-speed charging.
It's a slap in the face. Honestly I'd wish they'd just use the MicroUSB cable if they want to do that, because at least MicroUSB doesn't/can't lie about its capabilities like USB-C can.

Canon has been using the same 7V batteries since forever. Photographers have chargers and batteries already and including a fucking transformer in camera for the 3 people who want to charge over usb c is not worth it.

Japanese probably just study user groups composed of intelligent people that are all able to transfer files over MTP or UMS. All smartphones support USB mass storage. Good ones support MTP also.

Charging Li-Ion batteries is not done through transformers, the 7R batteries are charged the same exact way any other Li-Ion battery is charged.
You could literally charge the canon battery using a sony camera.

While you are largely correct, Windows 7 is far better than any modern iteration of Windows. If it weren't phased out of compatibility with modern hardware, everyone with a brain would be using XP sp3. But yes, Japs do this with games too. The new Dragon Quest has a slight delay on menus and a slow pace because it feels like the Famicom versions of the game that way. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, they say. The thing is that it's not really broken but it's the quality of life that they seem to be allergic to.
