I had a Canon 250 ION and it produced very similar results, but most of those cameras are faulty, but i guess similar results could be had with the really early cheap digicams.

do you think it would be user friendly for someone like me who doesn't know shit about cameras? i just want to get some promo shots for my album release and technically proficient on my macbook book, but i suck ass at physical cameras, im guessing it'd be easy to transfer photos from this thing to my laptop?

It recorded on proprietary floppy discs in proprietary format, so no, it would be an absolute bitch transferring the photos directly. Best bet would be to use a capture card to grab photos from its analog video output (which might actually bring you closer to the kind of you're trying to achieve).
