currently own an a6400 but thinking of trading it in for either an x-pro 3 or leica m240/m262, what do you guys think? looking to build a leica lens collection

No matter what you’re going to get fucked hard. Have you heard of the stupid tax? It’s what you pay when you pursue luxury products. The low end underperforms for the price and is prone to breaking. It was not made to last over several owners. The high end is out of your reach. Like paying for used entry level BMWs and mercedes. Xtrans has 2/3s the resolution of bayer. Shit AF. Shit “OVF”. No rangefinder. Screen cables break eventually rendering the camera nearly unusable. This is the lowest budget BMW on craigslist. One guy on a forum will say his original water pump works. The other 10000 people already had theirs break.

Has the dynamic range of an inferior camera and less speed and worse UX than the fuji despite being a real RF. It is notoriously unreliable and still has bugs. Like a fuji or canon, the firmware in its latest revision still crashes and fucks up image review. If you cant afford the m10, m11, or q2 you can’t afford leica. Oh, and look at the prices on those batteries.

M10, M11, Q2. Pick one, basically, or consider one of the newer foolji X-Ts and… never, ever get them wet.

Just rent both and see if they're worth it for you, they're a bad fit for 95% of shooters, and you can scratch the itch enough to realize they're not for you. M10 and Pro3 have been my daily carry for the last few years, love them both, each has their own strengths & weaknesses.

I've been playing around with my friend's M10 and it's really fantastic, but I don't know if I can justify the price at the current moment. Plus, with the sort of photography I do, I don't really need crazy dr and whatever else technical features; I'm mostly used to shooting on film, so frankly the only benefit digital has to me is the fact that you don't have to develop anything/pay for rolls of film.

It's definitely paying for the experience / ergos, but I find them more enjoyable to shoot than most other cameras. I was same boat, M4-P, got tired of film and swapped to Pro2, then Pro3, and M10 once I had money.

There are other cameras and adapters that can use the m mount. Buy a summilux or something first, then worry about body later unless you're just doing this for that red sticker.

Nikon adapts M mount the best anyways. Leica and Nikon are the only ones using sufficiently thin sensor covers to keep the corners as clean as leica intended.

First of all this anon is a gearfag to a degree that is unexcusable. A Leica is not just an luxury item nor is a fuji just a fashion statement.

A Leica is craftsmanship and that is what you pay your money for. Every single one is hand assembled.. I repeat... Craftsmanship..
The people who tell you a Leica is shit are the same people who will wear a chinese made watch is amazing because it tells the time.

A fuji is something entirely different. It is enjoyable and if it is a xt series it falls to the retro territory and it depends if you like that kind of work style and results. If I were you Id buy a fuji xt3 and some lenses.

I was cross shopping those two a few years ago and realized how dumb it was to spend xpro3 money on an old, manual focus m240 (despite having a good collection of m lenses). Went with the xpro3, loved it. The screen died but Fuji replaced it for free. Shooting it was nothing like using a film rangefinder, the ovf is hilariously small and distorted. The evf was great and I absolutely loved how I eventually had a few film sims setup that allowed me to never really need to post process. Less time editing photos is a huge win in my book. I sold it for unrelated reasons, but in retrospect given it's shit ovf, an XE4 would'v been an even better choice.

No I wouldn't. I'd keep my A7iv. And add a few GM lenses. Might add an FX3 and A7rV and just take out what I feel like. I'd probably get a second car I can tinker with (05-08 forester maybe) and probably invest the rest

I’d be paying hermanson to spiff up a small fleet of om-2s and 40mm+135mm f2.8 kits and buying out everyones stocks of color film. That’s not even the top of the iceberg. Prices on all vintage zuiko glass would skyrocket because of me.
