>>4263705>>4263700They hate him not just because he's telling the truth but because the truth is a refutation of current amateur photographer gearfag culture. Among amateurs, the purchase of a lens is seen as a moment that defines the photographers style or forces them to create one. It's romanticized, just one lens, often a fast prime. And oh boy do they HATE flash. This is for a few obvious reasons
1: Amateurs are cash strapped NEETs
2: Amateurs are fashion conscious, and having a flash attached to a camera draws attention and breaks the retro-chic leica-slinger look completely. It's also noticeable to them and makes them feel like they are doing work.
3: Amateurs are LAZY and want nothing more than what their camera can do on its own, hence how romanticized shooting jpeg on fujifilm cameras is. Flash requires some practice and know how to make it look good. Yikes!
4: Amateurs are young and hate their parents, and flash reminds them of how their dad took photos, and being dragged to family portraits, etc.
5: Amateurs are FEMININE and flash photography is inherently confrontational. Not just in the moment, but also when you look at it.
6: Amateurs want to mindlessly follow trends through retail therapy, and flash enables too much individuality that you can not simply buy to imitate. You must think and work.
And most horrifyingly of all
7: FLASH MAKES ALL FANCY GEAR ALMOST IRRELEVANT
Muh sharp lens? All lenses are sharp stopped down. Muh big sensor? Base ISO DR OF MFT IS ENOUGH FOR FLASH!
So anyways all amateur photography, especially in low light, looks the fucking same. About 2-3 feet worth of shit is actually in focus. It's very noisy. And it's underexposed. ART! If they are lightening anything it is literally every dark part of the image with a shadow slider in lightroom.
Just using fill flash is how you set yourself apart from these shmucks. It's something of a lost art.
