What's the difference between an image that makes you go "Oh, this is a photo of X", and an image that makes you just see/feel the subject? Where the image content is perceived first without registering the idea that it's a photo. Wondering about this because I get this feeling in a lot of "beginner" pictures(and most of the ones I take). I think there could be multiple things these types of photos lack:
>a theme or focus of the image
>lighting type, lighting angles
>atmosphere
>perspective
>composition of angles and objects
>colors
>implying external world
>etc(don't know)
Maybe all of that could be boiled down to a lack of anything of interesting in the photo. But I feel like I'm missing something more fundamental, and am curious about anons' thoughts/opinions on this.
