How do you remove a swollen li-ion battery from a camera without catching it on fire? Battery doesn't even nudge if I try with my finger and any excessive pressure is a fire hazard.

Apply force, tweezers or pliers, I'd stick the knife in the seam in this situation and lever it out. The case is still plastic, forbidden tin foil roll is safe inside, albeit swollen. If you are afraid of the battery, discharge it completely before removal.

Get a cast iron pot with a lid and shove it in there using oven mits. If it catches fire it'll be ~safe in there.

This. Super glue / JB weld something to the top so you can pull it out. As long as you don't puncture the plastic case down into the actual battery cells you're not going to start a fire. You can also run the camera until the battery is dead (if it's not already) to reduce the energy you're dealing with.

If it's not super jammed in there, get a some duct tape, stick it to the battery with a bit of tape you can grab onto, then give it a good yank (make sure that tab is clear of course.)

I would not recommend that. The li-ion electrolyte is flammable, may release HF on contact with moisture and is likely under pressure if the battery is swollen.

also Gorilla Tape makes a really bad ass double-sided tape truckers use to hang shit on their windows like GPS mounts and shit, I use a piece of this tape to hold a flash shoe on a Soviet Zorki-6 and I had to drop it on something to get it to break off and it pulled up all the paint with it when it came off.
