Sure, that's cool, but
Most nikon screw drive lenses are soft as shit and ugly wide open, and even stopped down once, and even stopped down to f/8. The reason nikon didn't give a fuck is because old glass is generally garbage except for a minority of lenses made by minolta, olympus, canon, and the europeans. This is mostly just helping lens collectors who happen to own a newer sony.
Sony could already adapt all minolta lenses with the LA-EA5, and honestly, minolta lenses are a lot better than most AF-D shit. Sometimes they are better than the cheap sony shit, and sometimes the expensive sony shit as well. Sony users gain little from this, and current Nikon users always had very little to gain. Nikon is a latecomer brand in the amazing glass department, not a "classic", and made a lot more shit than gold.
I shoot nikon Z cameras for the modern glass - including all FE lenses (thanks etz21 pro), not cheaping out on old garbage. I would actually appreciate better EF to Z autofocus adapters far more than AF-D support. A lot of EF L lenses, especially telezooms, were barely any worse than their modern versions and are still cheap. Any decent AF-D lenses are not much cheaper than superior Z mount and FE mount lenses which already work fine on Nikon Z cameras. The FTZ adapter was only ever good for temporarily filling in for missing UWA and telephoto zooms and primes with their most recent equivalents when Z mount was still very new and the ETZ21 pro didn't exist. We also now have dumb manual, manual macro, and a fucking autofocus adapter for M mount!
I also shoot nikon Z bodies for the superior color science, superior DR, less vignetting, thin sensor stacks (how's that corner smearing on your M mount shit?), functional weather sealing, better ergos, lack of star eater, etc... putting a shitty old F mount lens on one does not solve any of my problems, and putting a shitty old F mount lens on a sony un-solves my problems. What's the fucking point?
