>>4273017>>4273066>you dont have to buy the most expensive camera and the most expensive lenses but theres always that fine line where dogshit turns into a 5 star meal and thats the price point you want to aim at and those are usually mid range camerasi dont think you people understood his point i agree with anon here 100% photography is one of the most expensive hobbies and thats a fact, especially considering the fact that even in the top 10 richest countries in the world, over 45% of population earns well below whats considered AHI and near or just over 20% have just below what are considered average or average earnings. (aka. in over 190 countries around the world, the ''average'' pay isnt really the average and over 60% of people earn less than the average) so, the answer is yes, for 65-70% of population of the earth, photography is one of the more expensive hobbies they can choose to do and thats me saying 65-70% without counting in poor countries or 3rd world countries, realistically, the percentage is way higher.
also when you say ''i do photography for a hobby'' can mean anything
1. from ''i use my $200 phone to do photography''
2. to ''i use my $400 apsc camera and $200 lenses to do photography''
3. all the way to ''i use my 10k medium format fuji and 5k lenses to do photography''
you have to be more specific when you defend the ''photography isnt expensive'' point because it is, it is in fact expensive. phone and m43 snapshits are not photography, its not a real hobby.
that said, he was right. if you want to do ACTUAL photography as a hobby, then you will need to dive into sub-pro or ''advanced user'' grade cameras, whether its apsc or full frame or medium format, it doesnt matter, nobody gives a shit, as long as the camera has EVERYTHING that you might need, youre good to go. and those sub-pro cameras, even the apsc ones, start from 2k and go up to 3k or more if its a FF camera. same with lenses. if you dont want a piece of shit lens, prepare $$$$$$
