So my grandpa died (he had problems with the way I am so whatevers) and while going through his stuff I found this camera. It has no memory card. What is a good lens I could buy for it? I have an iPhone but I figured this camera would be more professional. It's a d1.

That is a historically significant camera, in that it was the first professional "flagship" digital camera. It predates the ability of anyone to make full frame sensors and is a DX (APS-C) sensor. This is the Wright Brothers airplane of DSLRs. It is going to not only be low res and small dynamic range, it is also going to operate slowly compared to even slightly newer cameras like a D40.

For a camera this old I wouldn't bother with any expensive lenses. Just get the same cheap DX lenses you'll be able to use with any other DX Nikon you may pick up when you get tired of lugging this thing around:

I wouldn't bother with FX (full frame F-mount) lenses unless you really decide you're all in on Nikon DSLRs and plan to get full frame one in the future.

Why is this important to someone who doesn't know anything about cameras? Don't be a cringelord. Also it's an ancient 2.7 MP camera so don't expect much. Also nobody can recommend a lens if you don't say what kind of shooting you want to do.

You will want 256MB to 2GB CF memory cards, german li-ion batteries and 35mm DX lens, shoot NEF to get modern sRGB color with after processing, think carefully if the camera is worth it, or just place in draver

Can's see why not, get a kit zoom and go to town, can't see a reason to get higher quality lenses though. With a cheap USB thingy you can import CF into any computer, even ipads etc.
