What is /p/ opinion about best color reproduction in digital cameras?
Some digital cameras like Leica M9 is praised for quality color and CCD look. For some reason SMI for M9 is 74 and its bottom of existing digital cameras/sensors.

All this is about is telling two slightly different shades of purple apart under certain standard illuminants. Dxomark has a page with this score for literally every camera, and no one ever looks at it, not even dxomark, because with the exception of museum workers and forensics experts, unless the SMI is stupid low, it means literally nothing for your photography.

I only develop B&W images myself, if I have to shoot color I let the film manufacturer or the camera manufacturer's JPEG presets do the work. There are color engineers being paid vast amounts of money, I'm not going to touch that shit

Yeah and every other “photographer” on here. Ohh I’m such a purist I want to do as little as possible and the finished image is made in the camera, I don’t even crop my images I let the fuckin camera manufacturer determine my cameras aspect ratio, whatever lands on my sensor is “art”. Only in photography is such laziness tolerated. You tards think the Old Masters created their work by just “being in the right place/time, exercising their supreme judgement and a slight wag of the finger & snapshitting it without any darkroom choices or edits whatsoever? don't care about best. that's just like having the neutral-est studio monitors to listen to music.
what you should care about is what looks best to you. without having to do a lot of post processing. I love the combo of nikon colors with capture one rendering. is it the "most truest" color reproduction? I bet not. but it looks the most pleasing to me.
of course if you're a nophoto (nocamera possibly) tech sheet enjoyer then well all is lost

those pre boomer faggots were living in the prehistoric age and would love auto focus and all that modern shit. but they had no access to it. do you know why the leica M was such a popular cam back in the days? because it had the most fancy tech. if the old masters were all about the "craft" they would have stuck with huge large format cameras - but no, they preferred a 35mm cam that allowed them to do less work while taking photos

Not necessarily. Sensor maps an infinite spectrum onto 3 numbers and no amount of editing can return those 3 numbers to an infinite spectrum. For example, if the sensor responds to UV in a particular way it will give a particular look that can never be recreated by a camera with "perfect" color response that doesn't see UV at all.

bigger number does not mean "more information" it means that the information it captures is more in line with some spec (which is probably derived somehow from human cone response function.) If UV haze is what you're into there's simply no way to mix the channels to produce it with a camera that is not sensitive to UV, i.e. a "better" camera.
I personally am not a fan of UV haze. I just used that as an example since it's easier to understand, but the same is true for any other colors that are formed by combining different channels (magenta etc.)

Let me introduce you to the Race Card. With the Race Card you can test cameras yourself and see if they are actually accurate. Don't buy it. I can answer the question, they are not accurate. No, your phase hassle blat isn't accurate either.
