Cinematography is a lot closer to most fashion or studio shooting. You have direct control over the scene, the models, the lighting, the staging, etc. You aren't capturing moments, you are manufacturing them, and the scale can be so much higher.
Genres like street, landscape, or photojournalism tend to be more passive in approach. Can be more physically demanding, and you often have to be flexible and improvise. You aren't manufacturing the scene, you are finding the right time and position to extract a 2D snippet from the 3D world.
Stuff like weddings or events is often mix of both. Everything gets easier over time though, used to be terrified going into certain shoots that now feel like a cakewalk. At a pro level, I think the technical / photo knowledge / skill just becomes a bare minimum standard more than any kind of hard challenge.
Working with lots people can be a challenge itself, often more so than anything strictly photo related.
