>>4278247Aside from learning the camera and learning the basics of photography, buy a good lens. Something in the ~17-70mm range, preferably with a max aperture of f/2.8. If you have the "kit" lens that came with the camera, get rid of it. The lens is more important than the camera, if you know how to use both. And, if you decide to upgrade camera body later, you already have a good lens.
And take lots of pictures. Don't show them to friends and family. Show them where you'll get harsh, honest critique.
