This lens looks fun as hell. Wide angle macro is a cool concept. I don't know much about other probe lenses though.

I mean, when they came out, everyone, including me, was laughing at them. They look silly, image quality wasn't particularly good, and they were priced pretty high. Now people are using them for all kinds of stuff.

I use a USB 'borecam/endoscope' to calibrate nozzle height on my 3dPrinter. Those are cheap, small, and you can try them out on your phone.
Not the same thing obviously, but similar enough to get you a feel for it if considering buying the actual SLR version.
