Why is the secondhand market so fucking low? I got a bunch of old cameras im trying to sell, but I'd be selling at a loss + inflation right now.

Search for D700. Find one which comes with decent glass. Buy it. Or a D750, if you're lucky.
D800 is a big improvement, of course, and D850 is a step up from that again, but those are still quite pricey.
D600 and down are too outdated.
