compact point and shoots are essentially dead other than the expensive premium ones anon mentioned, which is pretty much entirely:
>sony rx100 line (mucho dinero, admittedly very capable but damn that's a fat chunk of money for a p&s)>panasonic lx100 (m43) / zs100 (1" sensor) / tz100 (1/2.3"?) / lx10 (1" again??) and whatever other keysmash combinations they've made>the canon powershot G line is still around too i guess but seems to be marketed entirely to >vloggers now and most of them don't even have viewfinders, definitely not the 'small brick that goes in your pocket and takes photos' that they used to beif you just want a simple pocket camera i guess just buy whatever the current canon elph/nikon coolpix is, they're probably pretty much all identical and equally discontinued at this point with the same old tiny sensor and PASM dials are long gone. you can look for used cameras but here's the fun part, compacts as a whole have SKYROCKETED in price over the past few years from tiktok influencers or whatever and people wanking off over nostalgia, and it doesn't matter how old it is, if it's old enough to have a CCD sensor it goes for even MORE. we're talking almost MSRP for a 10 year old compact. everything sucks forever
t. went down this rabbit hole recently after being told "just buy a new phone bro"
