>>4282591I used to think this then I found out the hard way that IBIS only stabilizes the dead center of the image and it gets very noticeable as your focal length shortens. The edges still blur, sometimes by a lot. Buy something like one of these small prinz tripods and keep it in your pocket.
IBIS is mostly for two things. One is video, two is handheld telephoto shooting under the 1/mm rule, like 135mm at 1/30s instead of 1/125s, which would still be fast enough for people posing but not fast enough for hand shake. I mostly use IBIS with portrait lenses when shooting fill flash portraits and upping the ambient as the sun sets without fucking DOF or raising the ISO, which doesnt matter because you dont get edge smear over 50mm. It doesn't even start at pixel peeping levels until about the 35mm mark. If I were primarily a landscape photographer I would prefer a camera without it and just use a pocket tripod.
