Canon EOS 500N + dedicated flash thingy

Canon EF75-300mm f/4-5.6 II 1995, made in Japan (no idea if that matters)

Canon EF 28-80 mm f/3.5-5.6 II with a 58mm HOYA skylight filter (i think)

Is this shit worth anything or is it just junk

they are not bad cameras but most people shooting film want the silver rectangle for the 70s and no the plastic shitty feel from the 90s

Protip:
If the body turns on and goes click clack, keep it. Sell both lenses. Buy an EF 40mm f2.8. Shoot the cheapest film you can. Have fun with at least some of your photos being unlikely to be AI generated unless the CIA stole your negatives.

God the 70s silver rectangles are so much worse. I spent like $400 on my silver rectangle kit in the end (i even paid for a full blown CLA) and now I hate it. I should have just got a canon elan. Who fucking cares if theoretically its easier to repair or doesnt take need a battery, by the time thats an issue no one will even make film and the more modern cameras and lenses are just better.

I will never get my money back. $250 of it is a total overhaul of some collectors piece bullshit. It collects dust while I shoot a minolta maxxum.

I don't know man, different strokes and that. I got a Praktica for 25 and CLA'D it for 30 bucks and it works nicely.

I had a EOS Kiss for a while but it died after the second roll.

I'm gonna be that guy, I got both. I also have the 50s silver rectangle.

Each one is special to me. I have an F5 and ED VR glass for nice film and serious work. I have a Beseler Topcon RE Super/Super D and a Nikon F Photomic, F3 and FG for fun and a Leica IIIc/Leningrad when I want to LARP as Henri Cartier-Bresson.

And when I'm actually *really* serious I have an RB67 and 4x5 outfit.

Don't let American Capitalism get in the way of you having fun with your camera. Not everything has to have a monetary value added to it. I have literally 20k into my Nikon setup and probably 5 bucks into some of the Topcon stuff and they are both fun. The Topcon I had to service most of it myself.

Just get out and enjoy your camera. I had a 500N when I was shooting Canon EOS in college and it was fun putting a 5 dollar body on 3000 dollar L glass. Shit, I got to slap it on an 800/5.6L I rented for a Shuttle Launch toward the end of the program.
