Got a couple thousand old family pictures to scan, and only 2 weeks to go.
What's the best gameplan here, scanning 3 pics at a time (max I can fit) and go for 300dpi? Will I get fucked later trying to batch crop, can pics vary slightly in shape?
Am I losing too much by not going 600, or 1200 (1200 is out of the question, too slow).
Most pictures seem to be slightly out of focus anyway, so it's not like I'm missing gigadetails.
Also, should I scan in TIFF and later convert on my own to JPG, or just trust the scanner's JPG? Apparently bumping it up to 100% quality doesn't take any extra time, so it's free quality.
