Most of the great sports stories are incredibly simple but it takes absolutely nothing away from how they resonate with fans. For example, George Foreman regaining the Heavyweight title as an old ass man is a classic comeback/redemption story. It's not complicated. He lost the title, he got out of boxing for years and became a pastor, and then he came back and did the impossible.
Simple, easy. And still a great story.
