The click of shoes broke her reflections and she turned her head to look over her shoulder. Hikaru Shida, the former AEW women's champion, was there, Kendo Stick resting against her left shoulder. She was dressed in a red business coat, the top buttons left undone to expose a black bra that pushed up her modest cleavage, and a matching pair of red trousers. Her dark hair. streaked with red, was pulled back into a tight topknot ponytail. Little makeup was on her face, other than some basic, black eyeliner and a mute red on her lips.
Anna Jay opened her mouth, ready to ask for Shida's help, only to slowly close it as Shida approached her. The Joshi switched her grip on her kendo stick to her right hand and began to gently tap it against the palm of her left. As Anna Jay watched, Shida began to slowly circle her, murmuring something in Japanese. Cold dread settled over the brunette. She swallowed, trying to work some moisture back into her dry mouth, and then attempted a light laugh. "Hey Shida," she said, hoping her tone didn't seem too forced. "Um dunno how I got here, but mind helping me down? I don't think Jack knows we have a match... um..."
The Japanese woman paused mid-step, the kendo stick now resting in her hands. When she turned to face Anna Jay, the sense of dread she had felt metamorphosized into fear. Since the start of AEW, Hikaru Shida was been one of the key cornerstones of the women's division. Despite some questionable booking, she'd remained a firm favorite with the fans, able to win them over through her hard-hitting matches and her undeniable passion. It had been jokingly said that someone could give Shida a broom and she'd be able to have a four-star match with it.
