>>13380170You don't need main eventers to draw 1500-2000 fans, which is plenty for a non-televised show meant to showcase guys who aren't in TV storylines but can put on great matches.
The very last house show AEW ran had, among others: Anna Jay AS, Big Bill, Daniel Garcia, Darby Allin, Dr. Britt Baker DMD, Ethan Page, Hook, Jeff Hardy, Jeff Jarrett, Juice Robinson, Kris Statlander, Kyle Fletcher, Matt Hardy, Matt Menard, Max Caster, Orange Cassidy, Powerhouse Hobbs, Skye Blue, Toni Storm.....that's a lot of star-power right there. Any indy fed like GCW would *KILL* to have that amount of talent on ANY of their shows, let alone an untelevised show. They would offer drugs that haven't even been invented yet to secure that line-up.
>>13380187They only ran 6 total shows and none were a failure at all. Average reported attendance about 2,000. Nobody is saying to load the card up with Okada vs Omega, but you can get Acclaimed in action, Jay Lethal, Jake Hager, Taya, Penelope, Kip Sabian, lots of talents on there. You can experiment with Mixed Tag matches and other things you aren't sure will work on TV.
If you rent an NBA arena and expect 5000 people to show up when only 3000 show up for Collision on live TV, then of course that's stupid. Rent a 2k building, don't need to worry about a giant trucks, lighting rigs, 10 different 8K broadcast cameras, etc. Few cameras ringside, smaller entrance tunnel/display, set up the ring, do the fucking matches. Make some fans.
>>13380302True, also if Jay Lethal gets a monster reaction to a house show match (or worse, has a clip go viral), then Tony will look stupid for pushing Eddie Kingston like he's Brock Lesnar. Giant venues are easy to control, you can pump in cheers/boos/chants as needed. 2k seat arenas, you're at the mercy of who the fans like and don't like.
>>13380361That person said the margins (profits) aren't the same for House shows as they are for TV, so it's something they'll look at. Not that it's been decided
