Why is WWE so soulless these days? I don’t watch AEW but I know most of these apply to them as well.

Reason 1:
Vince killed every single territory until WWE= wrestling. Then turned the business public. He then got drunk on having complete control of the NA territory, and decided to push who he wanted, not what's best for business (this is the mistake territory guys made against Vince). Nobody to challenge him, nobody to criticize him. It became his own personal playground, and he turned it into Disney.

Reason 2:
The selfish NG era "stars" (who tanked the company) left nothing, but midgetism, destroyed kayfabe, a selfish lockerroom culture, and wacky PG shit behind for the generation behind them. When HBK, HHH, Bret, Nash, got into the business, there were 100s of old school guys who took them under their wing, trained them. But they didn't do that, and sold out everything for personal gain.

Reason 3:
The production team at WWE are bored, thanks to reason 1. They've made so much money and been there so long, they're basically experimenting with CG and LEDs for the fun of it. They don't care about bringing back any sort of grit. In fact, they and Vince aren't really wrestling fans anymore. They are obsessed with living toys and making it look like a cartoon for maximum profits. Again, Disney influence. That whole "new toy" meme we say about Tony Khan? People used to say that about Vince.

There are other reasons on top of these, but I can't be bothered.
