>The world's largest professional wrestling organization, "WWE," will hold a high-profile Japanese showdown. In the next SmackDown (SD) event, WWE Women's Champion "Itsujo" Iyo Sky (Io Shirai) will face "The Empress of Tomorrow" Asuka for the same title. After leaving Stardom, Iyo moved to WWE in June 2018, and through many twists and turns, she has risen to become the world's number one female professional wrestler in five years. She also talks about her feelings toward Asuka, who was her "big sister" in Japan, and her unacknowledged four-year struggle, as well as the superstar she is interested in.
Iyo on winning the title at the "Summer Slam" in August!
>IYO: I was deeply moved by the fact that I had made it to the center of the world, and at the same time, I felt a greater sense of responsibility. I had the feeling that it would take two years for what I was doing to reach the world, but in one year I went from appearing on the low to becoming a champion. I feel like I'm running like Usain Bolt, blasting through the American dream at breakneck speed.
--IYO on if WWE champion was a dream of hers.
>Iyo I became a professional wrestler when I was 16, and when I was 17 or 18, I saw Rey Mysterio and thought that one day I wanted to be a superstar in America too. I thought that the way he beat bigger opponents with his three-dimensional moves might be a clue that I could be successful even with my size. That's why you hug Rey Mysterio in the hall now, isn't it? I said, "I've always admired you," and he said, "I'm honored. He was a very nice guy (laughs).
