MJF's best feud, Eddie's best feud, He was one of the only guy who knew how to build weekly tv.

Kenny is someone that only worked with Gedo booking him and the guys in Japan who can force him to cut down the goofy shit.

The moment he won the IWGP belt, he said he was going to leave and you can see how terrible his ideas were with all the stupid shit he had that got no fucking heat from that crowd, and it drew less than the prior year. Meltzer and idiots cared about the BC drama and Golden Lovers shit, but that crowd never cared about any of them other than Kenny. It was weird that he won the belt and just went right into that shit and basically killed his own run after so much build up.

Naito and Okada basically had to come back and re-draw the house again in 2020 from all the damage that Kenny did with his reign.

I liked his run a lot. I definitely appreciate Phil as an entertainer and always thought it was a shame he could never get out of his own way. The Darby, Eddie and Dustin matches were good, he made MJF interesting, and the Mox feud was short but pretty memorable compared to the rest of AEW at the time. The PPV matches with Satoshi Kojima and Samoa Joe after he came back were also funny as fuck and I was happy to see him pushing Ricky Starks and Jay White on his containment show.

You think back to what came before and it all feels so small time. Hangman floundering with the title. Kenny's terrible reign with three different championships. Moxley had a main event match with the lawyer. Punk is truly what legitimized AEW, for however fleeting that was.
