Lachlan literally said they didn't think they made a big difference for their carriage fees. Meanwhile USA needs WWE to keep the whole station above water. Any new content they would produce would go to NBC or Peacock first as they're higher priority, so it's either WWE or sports.
They could have gambled and tried to get NBA instead but this is the safer option.

There is no network on Earth that airs a show and loses money. Not even TNT with Tony's shit tier ratings shows. Does it perform lower than expected? Yes. Can Fox also state that instead of saying something like it got outbid for content, which no one likes stating, it can state the show didn't meet expectations? Yes. Fox stated it was expecting ratings in the 5-6 million range. That is delusional by anyone standards. But I'm sure Fox, with all its analytics, didn't truly expect that when they singed the deal considering the show hadn't been doing 5-6 million users at that point either. It's just a way to present the news of losing the content to others in the company in a favorable light. What all of these calls always do.

If you want a real answer I think it's likely TNA is talking with Paramount again. Paramount doesn't need TNA back but they did pretty well back when they were on Spike before Dixie ruined it.

No I don't, because I don't need to speculate about the ad rates for a network. That does nothing for my TV viewing habits. It also doesnt make me more knowledgable about anything other than whatever speculation and guesswork people who aren't in the industry are doing. Ad sales are beyond high, and lucrative. Anon, first of all the network is using that expensive lucrative ad sale money to pay for not just the tech to build their streaming but also the rights to stream the World Cup. It's the World Cup so you need a reliable system to be built. Second the system uses Amazon but was built for Discovery by another company. That's what the case study is for. Amazon being involved is necessary because they own the servers that help facilitate major things being streamed to billions of people.

No anon. They absorbed Discovery + that already had the tech and capability. That is actually probably one of the things that made the merger more attractive too. The pre-built system. What you're getting confused is WB basically saying that the Discovery system will now be applied under a new umbrella and brand to push out BR sports which they are showcasing as an added cost to their subscription. It's free now until march 2024. They are able to implement sports now because they had the system from the Discovery merger, not because it suddenly was built.

Because when you merge companies it means sorting through the content, financials, and employees of whole new company. That's why there are massive layoffs, etc. Things need to be organized. Likewise things are prioritized for importance by higher ups. CNN has just been implemented because it takes time to implement things anon. This is also why Discovery+ is also a platform you can still sign up for and is still a separate thing as opposed to having been absorbed and rolled into Max. Why? because that would create more issues for all the things it does.

It's not so much being spread across multiple networks, it's that NBCU presently owns the streaming rights for SmackDown and Raw. If Amazon and Disney+ then stream RAW live, does NBCU keep the streaming rights for Raw and SmackDown? It's a complicated deal especially when NBCU just bought the rights to SmackDown and they broadcast all of the shows that used to be pay-per-views. NBCU has a ton of leverage here. Regarding a potential sale, you don't know Vince's reasoning or whether he just didn't want to sell it to NBCU. But long-term if they own all of WWE's distribution, they hold a lot of power over Endeavor.

Probably FS1 but they could have specials on Fox Network. Heck if Fox wanted a wrestling product to fill Smackdown at a lower cost AEW Dynamite could work. The problem Fox had was that Smackdown was too expensive for what they got from advertising but AEW is more affordable and gets a similar viewership in terms of demo. The question is will they get comparable demo on broadcast TV. And second will TK be able to produce something mainstream for a broadcast network where the FCC regulations apply.

All the replies to this are retarded. Fox went for the biggest fish and it didn't work out. Why would they go after a show that's basically in production hell for any amount other than a bare minimum weekend filler deal? Titles (don't think they'd be happy having Turner branding all over their shows), production, and roster would have to be completely overhauled. WWE owning all the branding and production was a massive reason Fox bought it for so much money. 1 billion dollars is basically what they'd spend on a season of original content.
